On 31 March 2025, observed internationally as Trans Day of Visibility, the Miss Trans Global organisation announced the coronation of Laura Pereira as Miss Trans Global 2025. Representing Italy, she was recognised not only for her grace and poise, but for her steadfast commitment to dignity, equality, and public service.
A former titleholder of Miss Beauty Trans Italy 2023, Laura Pereira is an activist, model, and performer of international standing. Born in Brazil and now resident in Italy with her husband, she brings to her role a life shaped by courage, resilience, and an unwavering sense of purpose in service of the transgender and wider LGBTQ+ community.
Early Life and Personal Resilience
Laura Pereira’s life journey has been marked by both profound loss and remarkable strength. Following the death of her mother during her childhood, she was raised with deep care by her father, whose steadfast support proved formative. While her family provided love and protection, the wider social environment in Brazil was often hostile to her identity, in a country that continues to record high levels of violence against transgender and gender-diverse people.
As a young adult, Laura survived a brutal transphobic attack that left her with life-altering injuries. This experience became a turning point rather than a conclusion. Seeking safety and opportunity, she relocated to Italy, where she rebuilt her life and found a renewed sense of agency through advocacy and public representation.

Advocacy and Public Service
Beyond the ceremonial duties of her title, Laura Pereira is deeply engaged in grassroots activism. In Milan and its surrounding areas, she supports sex workers through outreach initiatives that provide condoms and essential hygiene supplies, prioritising health, safety, and dignity.
She is widely regarded as a respected figure within Italy’s LGBTQ+ rights movement and has served as a godmother to numerous Pride events. In these roles, she has consistently championed visibility, inclusion, and solidarity, lending her voice to those too often marginalised.

Pageantry as a Platform
Laura Pereira has spoken openly about her decision to compete in Miss Trans Global as a conscious act of representation. For her, pageantry is not solely an expression of beauty, but a means of storytelling and social change. Her success in national and international competitions has offered her confidence, visibility, and a global platform from which to advocate for transgender rights.
She has described her crown as a symbol not of triumph over adversity, but of perseverance through it. Her lived experiences inform her public role, allowing her to speak with authenticity and empathy on issues of identity, migration, and survival.

A Global Voice for Equality
As Miss Trans Global 2025, Laura Pereira’s responsibilities now extend across borders. Her international engagements focus on highlighting the challenges faced by transgender communities worldwide at a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under increasing pressure in many regions.
She has drawn attention to the impact of restrictive policies, reductions in international health funding, and the broader consequences these decisions have had on vulnerable communities. In Europe, she has spoken with concern about political climates that have weakened protections for LGBTQ+ people, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility and human rights.
Through her reign, Laura Pereira has pledged to ensure that transgender people are seen, heard, and treated with dignity. In the spirit of service that defines her role, she continues to advocate with calm resolve, offering hope, visibility, and leadership at a critical moment for equality worldwide.
